If you were only one inch注 tall， youd ride a worm[小虫] to school.

The teardrop of a crying ant would be your swimming pool.

A crumb[碎屑] of cake would be a feast

And last you seven days at least，

A flea[跳蚤] would be a frightening beast

If you were one inch tall.

If you were only one inch tall， youd walk beneath the door，

And it would take about a month to get down to the store.

A bit of fluff[绒毛] would be your bed，

Youd swing upon a spiders thread，

And wear a thimble[顶针] on your head

If you were one inch tall.

Youd surf across the kitchen sink upon a stick of gum.

You couldnt hug your mama， youd just have to hug her thumb. Youd run from peoples feet in fright，

To move a pen would take all night，

（This poem took fourteen years to write—

Cause Im just one inch tall）.

倘若你只有一英寸高，便能骑着一条小虫去上学。蚂蚁哭泣时的一滴泪也能成为你的游泳池。

一点面包屑就能变成一场盛宴

够你至少吃上七天，

一只跳蚤就会是可怕的猛兽

你能在一根蜘蛛丝上荡秋千，

把一根顶针戴在头上

你能乘着一片口香糖在厨房的水池里冲浪。你无法拥抱妈妈，你只能拥抱她的拇指。你会惊恐地逃离人们的脚丫，

搬动一支钢笔需要花上一整晚的时间，

因为我只有一英寸高。）
