On the surface， Enders Game looks like a straightforward[明确的] sci-fi adventure， a story about a wunderkind[神童] named Ender Wiggin whos recruited[征募] by the military[军队] to lead humankinds last stand[抵抗] against an insect like race of aliens. But as fans of author Orson Scott Cards much-loved 1985 novel know， theres plenty more than that. “There are a lot of really important themes—leadership， bullying， compassion[怜悯]—and Ender is an intriguing[有趣的]， complex character，” says Asa Butterfield， who plays Ender. Much of the action takes place in a zero-gravity Battle Room， where young soldiers are trained to fight aliens in intense[紧张的] combat simulations[仿真，模拟]. “In the book， the Battle Room is a big black box， but I thought it would be more exciting to make it a huge glass orb[球] so you could be looking down at Earth and up at the stars，” says director Gavin Hood （X-Men Origins： Wolverine）. “When I told my visual-effects[视觉特效] supervisor[主管] what I wanted to do， his eyes nearly popped out of his head.”

In the near future， a hostile[敌对的] alien race have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary[传奇的] International Fleet[舰队] Commander[指挥官]， Mazer Rackham， all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack， Colonel[陆军上校] Graff and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin， a shy， but brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite[精英].

Arriving at Battle School， Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games， distinguishing[使表现突出] himself and winning respect[尊重] amongst his peers[同辈]. Ender is soon ordained[任命] by Graff as the militarys next great hope， resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there， hes trained by Mazer Rackham， himself， to lead his fellow soldiers into a battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
