What help do the Afghani(阿富汗的) kids get from the skateboarding (轮滑) lessons?

In Kabul (喀布尔), the capital of Afghanistan, 10-year-old girls like Fazila Shrindul are asked to wear headscarves(方头巾) at all times, and are not allowed to play with, or even speak to all men who are not in their family. But thanks to the Australian Oliver Percovich, children of Kabul from all backgrounds are creating a common bond on wheels.

Percovich has been leading a program called “Skateistan” in the city centre of Kabul without money. There, Percovich teaches kids how to skateboard. He gives street boys and girls and street beggars the opportunities to learn from and communicate with others in a fun way. Many of the street kids have learned to skateboard, and they are now paid to teach other children. By this way, they can earn a few dollars a day by doing something they enjoy.

About 90 children take part in the program, but Percovich hopes to teach more kids to skateboard soon. He has received enough things and money from people worldwide. Now he is building a one-million-dollar indoor skate park to teach skateboarding lessons for the children there.

“Skateistan” gives Percovich the opportunity to help the children there and improve himself in education. The program also helps the children there realize that they are not supposed to be different from others in the world. It gives them a chance to see the world with their own eyes.

For a long time, people believe that the heart was the centre of a persons emotions(情感). That is why the word “heart” is used in so many

expressions about feelings.

One example is to “lose your heart” to someone. When it happens, you have fallen in love with him or her. But if the person who “won your heart” does not love you, then you are sure to have a “broken heart”. In your pain and sadness, you may decide that the person you loved is “hard-hearted”, and in fact, has a “heart of stone”.

You may decide to“pour out your heart” to a friend. Telling someone about your personal problems can often make you feel better. If your friend does not seem to understand how painful your broken heart is, you may ask her to “have a heart”.

When you are terrified or worried, your “heart is in your mouth”. You might say, for example, that your heart was in your mouth when you asked a banker to lend you some money to pay for a new house. If that banker says “no” to you, do not “lose heart”. Be“strong-hearted” . Sit down with the banker and have a“heart to heart” talk. Be open and honest about your situation. The banker may have a “change of heart”. He may agree to lend you the money. Then you could stop worrying and “set your heart at rest”.

11. When you fall in love with a person, that means you “________”.

A. lose your heart B. won your heart

12. When someone “wins your heart” does not love you, youre sure to feel ________.
