1.Once there was a foolish son in a wealthy family.The flatters always said to him，“You are so clever.”从前，有一位很有钱的公子，很愚蠢。爱拍马的人总是对他说：“你真聪明！”

2.One day，he saw a notice for cart design competition and signed up.一天，他在街上看到国王发布的马车设计比赛的通知，就报了名。

3.The son never made a cart.He closed his doors to design the imaginary beautiful cart.Soon his cart was finished.He spent much money decorating it.The cart looked very beautiful.公子没有造过马车，他就关着门，在家里设计他想象中的美丽马车。他的马车就做好了，他又花钱来装饰，马车看起来非常漂亮。

4.On the day，he asked people to carry the cart.Someone asked him，“Why are you carrying it?”“It is for competition，”the son answered.比赛这天，他找人把马车抬到比赛现场。有人问：“你的马车为什么抬着走？”公子说：“这是比赛的马车。”

5.The competition began.The son’s cart fell into pieces when a horse pulled the cart.The king shouted，“The man is foolish enough to make a cart behind closed doors.”The son fled home.比赛开始了，一匹马拉了公子的马车，结果他的马车散架了。国王说：“还有这么笨的人，居然闭门造车！”公子灰溜溜地逃回家了。

寓意：“闭门造车”比喻只凭想象做事情，不顾实际，结果做出愚蠢的事情来。
