5.Skinny WitchⅠs So Obsessed With Being Skinny瘦巫婆的时髦病

Skinny Witch believes that being skinny is cool,and the skinnier,the better.But she is not so skinny before.For example,she used to eat two bowls of steamed rice a meal.Then,in order to lose weight,she reduced it to one bowl a meal,then half a bowl,a spoon,half a spoon,five grains,three grains...In this way,Skinny Witch was getting skinnier with each passing day,until one day she became so skinny that she looked exactly like a longbamboo(竹子)stick.

瘦巫婆相信，越瘦越时髦。但是她以前不瘦。例如：原来她一顿吃两碗饭，后来为了减肥，改为一顿吃一碗饭，再从一碗饭改为半碗饭、一勺、半勺、五粒、三粒……就这样，瘦巫婆一天比一天瘦，直到有一天她瘦得像根竹竿。

Now she is going to visit her neighbors,for she wants to show them how fashionable she has become now.But she doesn’t walk far before she feelsdizzy(头昏眼花的)and falls to the ground.

现在，她要去拜访她的邻居们，因为她想让她们看看她现在变得多时髦。可是走着走着，她就饿得头昏眼花，倒在了地上。

Busy Witch happens to pass by the place where she is lying,and she sees a bamboo stick on the road.“Oh,this bamboo stick sure looks good!”She says to herself,and then she picks it up and takes it home,intending(打算)to use it as alaundry pole(晾衣竿).Skinny Witch is finally hung between two trees,and before long she is getting so weak that she falls down to the ground,together with the clothes on her.

忙巫婆恰好路过她躺着的地方，她看见路上有一根竹竿，“噢，这根竹竿儿不错！”她自言自语道，然后她把瘦巫婆拣起来带回家，准备用她当晾衣竿。最后，瘦巫婆被横在两棵树中间，没一会儿她就软了，和衣服一起掉到了地上。

“Gee,this bamboo stick seems useless!”Busy Witch says,“But,at least it can be used asfirewood(木 材 ).”Then she is trying to break the stick and throw it into the cookingstove(炉子).But no matter how hard she tries,she just can’t break it.Right at this moment,the sharp pain wakes Skinny Witch up.

“哎呀！这根竹竿没什么用嘛！”忙巫婆说，“但是至少可以把它当柴烧吧。”然后她想把竹竿掰断，塞进灶里。可是，无论她怎么使劲都掰不断。就在这时，瘦巫婆被这剧痛给弄醒了。

Busy Witch suddenly sees two eyes on the upper end of the stick,and when she takes a closer look,she finds the eyes are rolling around.Suddenly the stick begins speaking to her,“Hey,Busy Witch,do you stillrecognize(认出)me?I am Skinny Witch.I do look cool,right?”Busy Witch is sostartled(惊讶的)that she almost drops the stick.Busy Witch apologizes for what has happened,and invites Skinny Witch for a meal.However,Skinny Witch eats only one grain of rice after a full bowl of steamed rice is put in front of her and then she walks away.

忙巫婆突然看见竹竿上头有两个眼睛，当她走进了看时，发现那两只眼睛在骨碌骨碌转。突然，竹竿开始讲话，“喂，忙巫婆，你还认识我吗？我是瘦巫婆。我看起来很时髦，对吗？”忙巫婆非常震惊，以至于几乎把竹竿丢到地上。忙巫婆为所发生的一切道歉了，并邀请瘦巫婆吃一顿饭。但是，一大碗饭摆在面前，瘦巫婆只吃了一粒米就走了。

Skinny Witch isstaggering(摇摇晃晃的)along the road,when suddenly her head starts to spin and she almost falls to the ground.Luckily,she got hold of Good-tempered Witch who is just passing by.After a few seconds to catch her breath,she says to Good-tempered Witch, “Do you think I look cool?”“Well,yea.You do look cool,but you are not healthy!”

瘦巫婆在路上摇摇晃晃地走着，突然眼前天旋地转，差点栽倒在地。幸运的是，她抓住了恰好路过的憨巫婆。喘了几秒钟气之后，她对憨巫婆说：“你觉得我时髦吗？”“是的，你是很时髦，可你不健康。”

Feelingdisappointed(失望的),Skinny Witchbumps into(遇见)Pretty Witch.She then says to her proudly,“I am a lot more fashionable than you are！”“Well,maybe,just maybe,you look a little more fashionable than I do,but honestly I do look better!”

瘦巫婆觉得很失望，走着走着，又碰到俏巫婆，她骄傲地对俏巫婆说：“你看我多时髦，你看你多老土！”“也许，只是也许，你是比我时髦一点，可我还是觉得你没我好看。”

Skinny Witch isfurious(愤怒的)with all thesenegative(消极的)comments after all the efforts she put into losing her weight.But still she doesn’t lose hope for somecompliments(夸奖).Then she comes across Good Witch who says to her,“Being so skinny is indeed fashionable,but it seems to me that you are not happy!”Skinny Witch faints to the ground again.

瘦巫婆努力减肥这么多天，却得到这些负面的评价，非常生气。可她还是继续找人问，希望得到夸奖。后来她碰到好巫婆，好巫婆对她说，“你是很时髦，但是我觉得你一点也不快乐！”结果，瘦巫婆气得又一次晕倒在地。

The witches gather together and feed her with some rice milk.And it is not long before she regains herconsciousness(意识).Then she hears from the other witches,“Well,she looks better now,and she’ll look much better if she eats more.”These comments are veryencouraging(鼓励的).So Skinny Witch decides to eat more in order to look better.She eats from just one grain of steamed rice per meal to three grains,then five grains,half a spoon,one spoon,less than half a bowl,half a bowl,one bowl,and now two bowls...I wish she can watch her diet a little bit from now on...

巫婆们围拢过来给她灌了很多米汤，没过多久瘦巫婆终于醒来了。她听到其他的巫婆说，“嗯，她看起来好多了啦，她要再多吃点儿，就会更好看啦！”这些话非常鼓舞她，因此瘦巫婆为了让自己变得好看，决定多吃一些。她从一顿饭吃一粒米，改为三粒米，然后五粒米、半勺、一勺、小半碗、半碗、一碗、两碗……。但愿，她不要越吃越多啊!
