Marathon is a much popularized long-distance race event.Its whole-range distance is 42.193 kilometers.There are Full Marathon,Half Marathon,and Quarter Marathon.Full Marathon is the most popularized.马拉松是国际上非常普及的长跑比赛项目，全程距离为42.193公里。它分全程马拉松、半程马拉松和四分马拉松三种。其中全程马拉松比赛最为普及。

Marathon dates back to a battle between the Persians and the Athenians beside the Marathon Sea on September,12th,490 BC.Finally,the Athenians won the battle.Commander Millerdi appointed soldier Fedipiters to send back the good news.马拉松比赛始于公元前490年9月12日波斯人和雅典人在马拉松海边发生的一场战役。雅典人最终获得了战争的胜利。统帅米勒狄派一个叫菲迪皮得斯的士兵回去报捷。

Fedipiters was a famous fleet-footed man.To let the people know the news sooner,he ran against time.When he arrived in Athen,he was out of breath.With the only words“we won”,he fell onto the ground and died.菲迪皮得斯是个有名的“飞毛腿”，为了让家乡人早知道好消息，他跑得飞快。当他跑到雅典时，已喘不过气来。只说了一句“我们胜利了！”就倒在地上死了。

In honor of this event,Marathon was set up as an event in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.And the total distance Fedipiters ran that year—42.193km was ruled as the distance of the race.为了纪念这一事件，在1896年举行的第一届现代奥林匹克运动会上，设立了马拉松赛跑这个项目。当年菲迪皮得斯送信跑的里程——42.193公里被当作赛跑的距离。

★Boston Marathon波士顿马拉松赛★

波士顿马拉松开始于1897年4月19日，是全球首个城市马拉松比赛，当时只有15位选手参加。从创办至今，波士顿马拉松每年一次，从没间断过，通常在4月中旬进行。在1986年以前，波士顿马拉松一直沿用古希腊的方式，对优胜者的奖励只有头戴橄榄叶编成的花冠，颁发奖杯，但没有奖金。

路线：比赛从波士顿正西方的Hopkinton出发，穿过7个小镇，最后在位于波士顿市中心的Copley广场结束。

规模：超过1万人

★New York Marathon美国纽约马拉松赛★

纽约马拉松是世界上最受欢迎的。纽约马拉松创办于1970年，每年11月初举行，参赛者最多超过10万人，声势浩大，通过纽约大吊桥时，桥身都会震动，场面非常壮观。

路线：起点设在通向Staten岛的Verrazano-Narrows桥上，穿过纽约的五个城区后，抵达中央公园结束。……
