爱一个人的形式有很多种，无论如何，发自内心的真爱总是会牵动人心的。眼睛和心的重要性对每个人来说都不言而喻，水和盐看似平淡却同样不可缺少。

Once there was a King who had three daughters. They were all sitting at the table one evening when the King said, "My dear daughters tell me how much you love me."

"Father,I love you as much as my eyes,"said the oldest daughter.

"Father, I love you as much as my heart," said the second daughter.

But the youngest daughter looked at the table and said, "Father,I love you as much as water and salt."

The King was very angry and cried, "What! You love me no better than water and salt?You are not a loving daughter. I shall send you away to live in a hut (小屋) in the woods."

The King sent the youngest daughter away from the palace. She was very sad, for she really loved her father very much. She lived in a hut in the woods.

The youngest Princess was very lonely. The birds in the trees sang their song to her and she knew what they were saying. "Dear Princess, do not be lonely. Some day a Prince will find you.Dear Princess,do not cry. Some day a Prince will come by."

One day a Prince was hunting in the woods. He came to the hut in the woods. He saw a beautiful girl sitting in the doorway.The Prince went to her and said, "Fair(白肤金发的) lady, will you give me a drink of water?"

The Princess gave the Prince a cup of water. And he looked into her eyes and fell in love with her. "Fair lady,it is not good that you live in the woods," said the Prince. "Will you come with me to my fa- ther's castle?My mother and her servants will care for you."

The Prince took the Princess to his father's castle.He told his father that he wanted to marry the beautiful girl.And so a day was set for the wedding. The Queen said, "We must ask three Kings to the wedding. Three Kings will bring their good wishes. I want them to bring health,wealth,happiness to the Prince and his beautiful wife."The Princess asked that her father be invited to the wedding, although she did not tell the Queen that she was the daughter of this King.

The Princess's father did not want to go to a wedding,for he had never been happy after he had sent his youngest daughter into the woods.But the King said to himself, "If I do not go to this wedding, the father of the Prince will think that I am not his friend. I must go to the wedding."

The King did not know his own daughter in her wedding dress.The three Kings wished the Prince and his wife health, wealth and happiness. After the wedding there was a big feast.The Princess called a servant and pointed to her father, "Be sure that no servant gives that man any water or any salt,"she said.

The Princess,who was sitting near her father, saw that he was not eating very much. "Your Majesty, I see that you are not eating. Does the food not please you?"

"I do not feel very well,"said the King.The Princess had the servant give the King more meat. But the meat had no salt on it and he could hardly eat it. And he could hardly swallow the meat, for he had no water to drink.

After the wedding feast, stories were told. The King who was the father of the Princess said, "I have a sad story to tell. It is about a father who was very foolish. He had three beautiful daughters and he wanted to see how much they loved him. The oldest daughter told her father that she loved him as much as her eyes. The second daughter told her father that she loved him as much as her heart. But the youngest daughter told her father that she loved him as much as water and salt. The foolish father thought that his youngest daughter did not love him.And so he sent her away to live in a hut in the woods."

The Princess asked the King,her father,what happened to the youngest daughter. "The foolish father tried to find his youngest daughter. But she was gone from the hut in the woods," he said.

Everyone thought that the King had told a very sad story. No one saw the Princess leave the big hall. She went to her room and put on the dress she had worn when her father had sent her into the woods. Then she went back into the big hall.

"Father," said the Princess, "I am your youngest daughter.And I love you like water and salt. For without water and salt we cannot eat and we cannot live."Everyone was happy. And so the sad story had a very happy ending.

国王把最小的女儿从皇宫里赶了出去。小公主非常悲伤，因为她实在是很爱父亲啊。她住在林中的小屋里。

小公主觉得好寂寞，树上的鸟唱歌给她听，她也知道鸟儿在唱什么：“亲爱的公主，不要觉得寂寞，他日有位王子会找到你。亲爱的公主，不要哭，他日有位王子会来到这里。”

一天，有位王子在林中打猎。他来到林中的小屋前，看见一位美丽的女孩坐在门口。王子走过去对她说：“美丽的小姐，能给我一口水喝吗？”

公主拿了一杯水给王子，王子凝视着她的眼睛，爱上了她。“美丽的小姐，你住在树林里可不好，”王子说，“你愿意和我一起回我父亲的城堡吗?我的母亲和她的仆人会照顾你。”

王子带着公主回到父亲的城堡。他告诉父亲说他想娶这美丽的女孩为妻，于是他们确定了结婚的日子。王后说：“我们必须邀请三位国王来参加婚礼。三位国王会带着祝福而来。我希望他们能为王子和他美丽的妻子带来健康、财富和快乐。”公主请求邀请她的父亲出席婚礼，虽然她并没有告诉王后她是这位国王的女儿。

公主的父亲并不想参加婚礼，因为自从他把最小的女儿遣送到树林里后，他就不再快乐了。但是国王心想：“如果我不参加婚礼，王子的父亲会认为我不把他当朋友，所以我必须参加。”

国王没有认出穿着新娘礼服的女儿。三位国王共同祝福王子和他的妻子拥有健康、财富和快乐。婚礼结束后，举行了一个盛大的宴会。公主唤来一个仆人，并指着她的父亲说：“绝对不要让任何一个仆人，拿水或盐给那位先生。”她说。

坐在国王附近的公主注意到她的父亲吃得不多。“陛下，我发现您没怎么吃东西，是不是食物不合您意呢?”

“我不太舒服，”国王说。公主叫仆人拿更多的肉给国王，但肉上没有盐，所以国王几乎不能吃它，而且他更无法把肉咽下，因为没有水可以喝。

婚宴之后，大家开始讲故事。国王，也就是公主的父亲说：“我要讲个悲伤的故事，这是关于一位愚昧的父亲的故事。他有三个漂亮的女儿，他想要知道女儿们有多么爱他。大女儿告诉父亲说，她爱他就如同她爱她的眼睛一样；二女儿告诉父亲说，她爱他就如同她爱她的心一样；但最小的女儿告诉父亲说，她爱他就如同她爱水和盐一样。愚蠢的父亲认为最小的女儿不爱他，所以就把她遣送到树林里的小屋中居住。”

公主问国王，也就是她的父亲，最小的女儿怎么样了。“愚蠢的父亲想要找回最小的女儿，可是她已经离开林中的小屋了。”他说。

每个人都认为国王讲了一个非常悲伤的故事，没有人注意到公主离开了大厅。她回到自己的房间里，换上了父亲遣送她到树林时所穿的衣服，然后返回大厅。

“父亲，”公主说，“我就是您最小的女儿。我爱您，就如同我爱水和盐一样，因为如果没有水和盐，我们就不能吃东西，也不能活下去。”大家都很高兴，这个悲伤的故事有了一个很幸福的结局。
