主持人小语：Rome was not built in a day! 任何学科的学习都讲究循序渐进、持之以恒，英语学习也不例外。不过跟理科讲究天赋与悟性不同，语言学习更强调“语言积累”。同一道数学题让老师给你讲解一遍多半就够了，但是同一篇美文让发音地道的老外给你读上十遍对你的影响和听一遍肯定大不相同。因此多听、多读、多说、多写是提高英语水平的必经之路。你不必感到枯燥，因为每一遍都会带来新的收获。

小强博士 男，2001年毕业于上海外国语大学，获文学博士学位；2007年赴英伦访学，现就职于华中师范大学英语系。任教十余年来，始终对English teaching in secondary schools（中小学英语教学）抱有浓厚的兴趣；赴英国访学期间，更是通过实地参观、访问、旁听等方式详细了解了国外中小学英语教学的现状。希望借助《中学生英语》与全国的英语爱好者，尤其是青少年朋友们交流。

What could you do?

*Help someone in your school with their study.

*Help out at your local （当地的） animal rescue centre （动物营救中心）.

*Set up your own initiatives, such as a “clean up rubbish” campaign （活动）.

Like sports? Why not help with an after school sports

to people? Why not

visit people at a local old peoples home（养老院）?

Like animals? Why not offer to walk with a neighbors （邻居的） dog when you get home from school?

Like the outdoors? Why not help create a pond （池塘） or wildlife garden at school or in your community （社区）?

At times you need to “help yourself”.

During this summer vocation, you might have uttered （发出,作声,发表）, “No ones around” or “Im bored （无聊的）. There is nothing to do.” Its time to “help yourself”.

Get out there and find everything interesting to do.

Do something new—visit a museum （博物馆）, try different （不同的） food, learn （学习） a new skill.

Read something every day—fiction （小说）, biography （传记）, articles （文章）, poetry （诗歌）, newspaper （报纸）.

There is no excuse （借口） for boredom （厌烦；厌倦）!
