青藏铁路修建特别通道,以保护濒临灭绝的藏羚羊。

The Qinghai-Tibet Railway, stretching in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (青藏高原), is the longest railroad in the world at the highest altitude. Starting from Xining in Qinghai and ending in Lhasa in Tibet, runs for 1,956 km.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is one of the three areas in China with the most fragile ecological environment. With an average elevation of over 4,600 meters, it is home to Tibetan antelopes (藏羚羊), yaks, white-lipped deer, snow leopards and black-necked cranes, all of which are under state first-level protection.

Based on close studies of the animals regular habitats and patterns of procreation (繁殖) and migration, 33 passages have been opened for the seasonal migrations of the animals.

The Tibetan antelope is listed in the IUCN (国际自然与自然资源保护联合会) Red List as a threatened species. Hoh Xil Nature Reserve is one of the nature reserves which were set up by the central government to protect these antelopes. Each year, Tibetan antelopes migrate to the northern area with a cooler climate and rich water and grass resources to lamb in June-July and return with their offspring in August. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway lies right in their path. In June, 2002, in order to let some 30,000 future mother antelopes pass the construction site without disturbance, the workers shut down their machines and pulled down their sign boards and sign flags. They stopped working for four days to make way for them. In August, when these Tibetan antelopes returned with their children, they stopped working once again. Moreover, the builders do their best to reduce noise in areas close to nature reserves.

So far, the number of Tibetan antelopes in China has climbed to over 80,000.

Young people are often unhappy when they are with their parents. They say that their parents dont understand them. They often think their parents are too strict with them, and they are never given a free hand.

Parents often find it difficult to win their childrens trust(信任) and they seem to forget how they themselves felt when they were young.

For example, young people like to do things without much thinking. Its one of their ways to show that they grow up and they can do with any difficult things. Older people worry more easily. Most of them plan(计划) things ahead and dont like their plans to be changed.

When you want your parents to let you do something, you will have better success (成功) if you ask before you really start doing it.

Young people often make their parents angry by clothes they want, the music they enjoy and something else. But they dont mean to cause (引起) any trouble. They just feel that in this way they can be cut off from the old peoples world and they want to make a new culture (文化) of their own. And if their parents dont like their music or clothes or their manner of speech, the young people feel very unhappy.

Sometimes you even dont want your parents to say, “Yes” to what you do. You want to stay at home alone and do what you like.

If you plan to control (控制) your life, youd better win your parents trust and try to get them to understand you. If your parents see that you have high sense of responsibility (责任感), they will certainly give you the right to do what you want to do.

根据短主文内容判断下列句子的正误,正确的用“A”表示,错误的用“B”表示。

1. When young people are with their parents, they dont feel pleased.

2. What young people think is different from what older people do.

3. What young people do is to make their parents unhappy.

4. When children grow up, they hope to let them do everything alone.

5. If you try to get your parents to understand you, you must do well in everything.
