In the 1^stSession of the 9^thPeoples Congress ofthe Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), held onJanuary 22,2008,Mr.jampa Phuntsok was againvoted Chairman of the Tibetan Government. Thereis no doubt that the election outcome demonstrates oncemore that the population of over 2.8 million Tibetans ac-knowledges the achievement of the preceding leadership.Not surprisingly, in this five-year administrative termpeople witnessed substantial changes taking place in TAR,such as the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and theNyingchi Airport, ongoing progress in the housing of Ti-betan people, economic revitalization along with theboundary line of TAR, and overall economic and socialimprovement. As the Chairman of TAR, Jampa Phuntsok,in this past administrative term, has successfully under-taken full responsibility and accountability to define andimplement the polities and plans of TAR, based on hisprofound investigation and thoroughly analysis of the sta-tus quo in TAR by traveling all over it's far-flung 1.2 mil-lion sq meters. Even Metok, the "isolated lotus tiny island",also greeted the senior governor of TAR in last July.
