Yesterday we were about to have lunch when my dad came in, with a paper box in his hands. Hardly had he stepped into the sitting room when he said excitedly, “Dog, dog. Ive brought a baby dog.” Hearing this, both my brother and I rushed to the box, in which we saw a small black dog. “Its two months old.” We were informed by my dad. “What a lovely dog!” I couldnt help patting on its back.

As I was looking at him up and down, I caught sight of its eyes, its bright black eyes, from which I read signs of a lack of freedom.

Then, I tried to tend the little creature out of pity. Although I put pieces of cotton in the paper box and fed it with bones, its black eyes still appeared sad. I understood he was seeking freedom. Not bearing seeing the poor dog, I turned to my dad and at last persuaded him to send it to its mother.

“Well done!” I heard a voice in my mind. Yes, its right of me to do so. Each animal has its own life and emotion, just as us human beings. Its their right to live freely. Whereas, too many of them have been kept in families as pets. Thus they lose their freedom. Whats worse, many animals are badly treated by their cruel owners. Some are even beaten to death without good reason.

Personally, as human beings, we should be friendly not only to each other but also to all the creatures. Also, we should respect each life on the earth. After all, the animals are breathing the same air as we are. In a word, we should in no way keep the animals from enjoying their basic right—freedom!
