Beijing city wall is a generic term for the civic defence system built during the last two dynasties in Chinese history—the Ming and Qing dynasties. It comprises palaces， imperial city， inner city and outer city， and is equipped with city walls， city gates， enceinte， turrets， watchtowers and a moat. The city wall was once the most well-preserved ancient urban defence system in China.

北京城池是中国历史上最后两代王朝明和清的都城城防建筑的总称，由宫城、皇城、内城和外城组成，包括城墙、城门、瓮城、角楼、敌台和护城河等多道设施，曾经是中国存世最完整的古代城市防御体系。

The Great Eight Sights of Yanjing refer to the eight scenic sights in ancient Beijing， including Jimenyanshu （Xitucheng）， Lugouxiaoyue （Marco Polo Bridge）， Jintaixizhao （Jintai Road）， Qiongdaochunyin （Beihai Park）， Juyongdiecui （Badaling）， Taiyeqiufeng （Zhongnanhai）， Yuquanbaotu （Yuquan Mountain） and Xishanqingxue （Fragrant Hill， Badachu）.
