中国是礼仪之邦，“礼”是中国文化的精髓，“好礼”、有礼、注重礼仪是人立身处世的重要美德。

There are many， many animals in an animal city， such as peacocks， 1）buffalo，elephants， sheep， dogs， cats， etc. One of peacocks is very beautiful. He is proud and2）arrogant. He shows himself in front of other animals all day and he always says howbeautiful and clever he is. When other animals have difficulties， he is never willing tohelp them， and sometimes he is 3）ironic to them. So the animals hated him and didn'tplay with him.

One morning， the peacock went out to play. He walked around and suddenly gotlost. When he was 4）anxious， he saw an old buffalo grazing on the opposite side， and hewalked up to the buffalo with his head raised and spreading his beautiful tail， and thenhe asked， "Hey！ How can I get to the nearby park？" The old buffalo ignored him. Thepeacock thought it could not hear， and asked again， "Hey！ How can I go to the nearbypark？" The old buffalo still didn't look at him， and then he shouted again， "Hey！ How do Igo to the nearby park？ Hey！ Didn't hear me？ I'm asking you！" Then the old buffalo turnedaround and glanced at him， but he did not say any words and turned to eat grass. Whenthe peacock realized that the buffalo ignored him on purpose， he had to leave and hecame to a pond. He saw an elephant drinking water. Then a cat came from a distance.The cat walked next to the elephant and asked， "Excuse me， Uncle Elephant. How doyou go to the nearby park？" The elephant turned and smiled， "You are really polite. Well，just go this way to the end and turn left." The kitten said" thank you" to the elephant andleft. The peacock was thinking "Why did the kitten answer them when asked？ Why don'tthey tell me？ No， I will also ask！" He walked in front of the elephant and asked， "Hey！

4）anxious ['aenkfes] adj.焦虑的How can I get to the nearby park？" The elephant ignored him. He said loudly， "Whywould you tell the kitten， but you wouldn't tell me？" The elephant turned around and saidwith a smile， "When you say， 'Hey'， who do you ask？ Didn't you see it just now？ Thekitten is so polite to me. What about you？ What you only know is to show off yourself.You can't blame others who ignored you. You should know how to be polite to others！"

After listening to the elephant， the face of the peacock turned red. He lowered hishead， and said， "Thank you for your teaching， I will correct it." Since then， the peacock ispolite every time he greets others， and the animals play with him.

动物城里居住着很多很多的动物，有孔雀、水牛、大象、绵羊、狗、猫等。其中有一只孔雀很美丽，它骄傲自大，整天在别的动物面前炫耀自己，说自己美丽大方，冰雪聪明。别的动物有困难，它从不乐意帮助，有时候还讽刺人家是笨蛋。所以动物们都很讨厌它，也不和它一起玩。

有一天早上，孔雀出去玩，它走呀走呀，忽然迷路了。正当它焦急时，看见对面有头老水牛正在吃草，它便昂首挺胸地走到水牛旁边，展开它那美丽的尾巴，然后问：“喂！到附近的公园怎么走？”老水牛没有理它，孔雀以为它听不见，又问了一句，“喂！到附近的公园怎么走？”老水牛还是不看它一眼，它又接着大声地叫，“喂！到附近的公园怎么走？喂！听没听见？我在问你呢！”这时老水牛转过身来瞟了它一眼，没吭声，又转过身去吃草了。它看见水牛不理它，就甩着尾巴走了。它走着走着，来到一个池塘边，看见一头大象在喝水。这时从远处走来一只猫。猫走到大象旁边，问：“打扰一下，大象伯伯，请问到附近的公园怎么走？”大象转过头来，微笑着说：“小猫真懂礼貌。喏，就顺这路走到尽头，再向左拐就到了。”小猫向大象说了声“谢谢”便走了。孔雀在旁边想：为什么这只小猫一问它们就回答？为什么它们不告诉我？不行，我也去问问看！它走到大象面前，问：“喂！到附近的公园怎么走？”大象不理它，于是它便大声地说：“为什么你肯告诉小猫，却不告诉我呢？”大象转过身来微笑地说：“你一出口就是‘喂，到底问谁呀？刚才你不是看见了吗？人家那么有礼貌。你呀，只会炫耀自己，别怪人家不理你，你应该懂得讲礼貌啦！”

孔雀听了大象的话，脸红了，低下头，说：“谢谢您的教导，我会改正的。”从那以后，孔雀每次向别人打招呼时都很有礼貌，动物们也和它一起玩了。
