In October,the consumer price of China’s clothing products rose 1.4% year-on-year

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in October 2019, the retail value of apparel products in Chinas units above the designated size fell by 0.3% year-on-year, which was 5.2 percentage points lower than the same period of the previous year, and 3.6 percentage points lower than the last month of 2019.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the consumer price of Chinese clothing products rose by 1.4% year-on-year in October 2019, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from the same period of the previous year, and a decrease of 0.4 percentage points from the previous month.

Retail sales: According to the statistics of China National Commercial Information Center, in October 2019, the apparel retail sales of key large-scale retail enterprises nationwide decreased by 6.4% year-onyear, a decrease of 1.3 percentage points from the same period of the previous year.

Retail volume: In October 2019, the apparel retail volume of key large-scale retail enterprises nationwide decreased by 2.6% year-on-year, and the growth rate decreased by 2.9 percentage points year-on-year.

Unit sales price: According to the statistics of China National Commercial Information Center, the apparel retail prices of key large-scale retail enterprises nationwide in October decreased by 3.8% compared with the same period of the previous year.

Mens wear: Statistics from China National Commercial Information Center show that in October 2019, the retail sales of mens wear in key national largescale retail enterprises fell by 7.8% year-on-year, an increase of 1.6 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year; the retail volume of mens suits decreased by 5.5% year-on-year, and the decrease rate increased by 0.2 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year. The sales volume of mens shirts increased by 7.0% yearon-year, and the growth rate increased by more than 10 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year.

Womens wear: Statistics from China National Commercial Information Center show that in October 2019, the retail sales of womens wear in key national large-scale retail enterprises fell by 8.1% year-on-year, a decrease of 2.0 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year; the retail volume decreased by 7.5% year-on-year, the decrease narrowed by 1.4 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year.

Childrens wear: According to the statistics of China National Commercial Information Center, in October 2019, the retail sales of childrens wear in key national large-scale retail enterprises fell by 1.2% year-onyear, a decrease of 2.6 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year; the retail volume decreased by 4.1% year-on-year, the decrease was narrowed by 5.8 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year.

Sportswear: According to the statistics of China National Commercial Information Center, the retail sales of sportswear by key national large retail enterprises in October 2019 increased by 4.2% year-on-year, an increase of 4.1 percentage points compared with the same period of the previous year, and an increase of 4.2 percentage points from last month.

The data involved in this report are derived from the statistics of China National Commercial Information Center, which can objectively reflect the development status of Chinas clothing industry within the scope of monitoring.

The survey sample is a typical large-scale retail business group enterprise with annual sales of more than 100 million yuan in various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities (excluding Hainan and Tibet).
