“With passive walking technology, future humanoid robots could walk 140 kilometers at a mere one kilowatt hour.”

According to Mr. Zhang Jianwei, an academician of the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg who is engaged in the study of cognitive robotics, with industrial 4.0 smart computing technology, the high-end sensors could be embedded in an industrial robot. Then it could not only move, but it could also perform operational and perceptive functions. The key is to transform all the data into knowledge to guide the robot and help it better understand its world model, making human-computer interaction easier.

This is a scene from the 2017 OVC Expo held from November 1st to November 3rd in Wuhan.For this exposition, the experts at home and abroad met in Wuhan to have some high-tech brainstorms.They held heated discussions on such topics as,living in the era of AI+, how to upgrade the optoelectronic information industry, how to promote the construction of pilot free trade zones, and the development of the optical communication industry in a 5G era.

At the site of the expo, people could watch at close range how mobile phone panel glass could be processed with precision equipment easily;they could also see JD’s 8k Ultra-HD display and a flexible AMOLED display, which was the first of its kind in China. In addition, they could appreciate the digital art gallery: a BOE painting screen, which could bring the art gallery into your home. They could also manipulate the on-site VR single-soldier combat simulator, a bazooka system, and a sighting system for weapons, which could change the future of warfare.

在德国从事认知机器人技术的汉堡科学院院士张建伟介绍,基于工业4.0中的智能计算技术,将高端传感器嵌入到工业机器人内,它不仅可以移动,还具有操作和感知的功能,关键要把大数据变成知识,用来指导机器人,更好地理解世界的模型,把人机交互的长度变得更短。

这是第14届“中国光谷”国际光电子博览会上的一个场景。2017年11月,中外专家会聚武汉,掀起一场场高科技头脑风暴,他们热切地讨论在“人工智能+”时代,光电信息产业如何升级,自由贸易试验区建设如何推进,“5G”时代的光通信产业发展。

在现场,人们可以近距离观察手机面板玻璃如何通过精密设备轻松加工完成,可以看到京东方带来的全球领先的8K全系列超高清显示,以及国内首创的柔性AMOLED显示,可以体验把艺术画廊搬回家的数字艺术馆BOE画屏,而且可以现场操作VR单兵和火箭筒作战系统、枪械瞄准系统,它们将改变未来战争的模式。

中国高科技公司研发出一种可弯曲2000次以上的柔性锂电池,最小弯曲半径可以达到30毫米。这意味着,未来的电子阅读器可以卷在一只笔上,或者如同画卷一般展开。基于此,成功推出全球首款柔性阅读器。这种技术为未来柔性创意的拓展提供创造无限可能。

本届光博会还为人们描绘出一幅“从连接到智能”的智慧光通信蓝图。

在超宽带、移动5G等新一代信息通信技术方面,观众可以亲身感受北斗信息的精准定位和双向移动通信的便捷;感受前沿的超大容量、超低时延、超高时间精度的5G时代技术;特种光纤产品在智能家居、数据中心与海缆项目等各种实际场景中的应用;还能体验基于高精度导航地图采集的无人驾驶技术。

人类正处于从信息时代过渡到智能时代的开端。在本届光博会光智能馆,展示芯片与算法、人工智能与虚拟现实、智能硬件及智能终端、云平台及创新城市将给我们带来的美好生活。

经过30年的产业积淀与高速发展,武汉光谷已成为全球最大的光纤光缆研制基地,孕育出一批国际领先、国内首创的技术和产品,成为参与全球光电产业竞争的主力军。♦

A kind of flexible lithium battery with a minimum bending radius of 30mm, capable of bending more than 2,000 times, had already been produced by Chinese high-tech companies.This meant that an e-reader in the future could be twined around a pen or unfolded like a scroll painting. Based on this technology, the first flexible e-reader in the world was successfully presented.The technology could provide endless possibilities for the development of flexible creations in the future.

The OVC Expo this year also depicted a blueprint for the application of smart optical communication“from connection to intelligence.”

In terms of information and communication technologies for the new generation, like ultra wideband and 5G mobile communication, the audience could personally perceive the precise positioning of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and the convenience of two-way mobile communication. They experienced the frontier technologies of the 5G era with ultra-large capacity, ultra-low latency, and ultra-high precision features and products made from special optical fiber which are employed in making smart homes, data centers, and undersea cable projects a reality. Last but not least, they saw unmanned technology based on high-precision navigation maps.

Humans are just at the start of the transition from the information era to the smart era. The good life that will be brought to us by chips and arithmetic, AI amp;VR,intelligent hardware and terminals, cloud platforms, and creative cities was displayed in the optical intelligence themed hall.

After 30 years of industrial accumulation and rapid development, the Wuhan Optics Valley has become the world’s top research base for optical fiber and cable and has developed a group of world leading technologies and products which are the first of their kinds in China. Thus, Wuhan has grown into the main force for China to participate in global competition in optoelectronics.♦
