Every day when I walk by the street， I always see the burrito①burrito 英 ［bʊ'riːtəʊ］ 美 ［bə'rito］ n. 墨西哥卷饼girl. I call her “burrito girl” because she runs a food truck that sells burritos. There are many food trucks like this in town， hers is only a small one.

Her burritos are nothing special at all. But what really amazes②amaze 英 ［ə'meɪz］ 美 ［ə'mez］ vt. 使吃惊me is her persistent③persistent 英 ［pə'sɪst（ə）nt］ 美 ［pə'zɪstənt］ adj. 固执的，坚持的；持久稳固的procedure④procedure 英 ［prə'siːdʒə］ 美 ［prə'sidʒɚ］ n. 程序，手续；步骤of handling the burritos. She always unfolds⑤unfold 英 ［ʌn'fəʊld］ 美 ［ʌn'fold］ vt. 打开；呈现 vi.展开；显露a wrapping paper before the burrito is ready， flattening⑥fl atten 英 ［'fl æt（ə）n］ 美 ［'fl ætn］ vt. 击败，摧毁；使……平坦 vi. 变平；变单调every corner of the paper. She puts the burrito right in the middle of the paper， carefully wraps it up tight，tucks the paper corners so that it doesn't slip. Then she puts three napkins in a box， together with the burrito， two bags of ketchup on the left and two bags of mustard⑦mustard 英 ［'mʌstəd］ 美 ［'mʌstɚd］ n. 芥末；芥菜；深黄色；强烈的兴趣on the right. She seals the box and hands the box to me with a smile， and “have a nice day”.

It is not surprising for a burrito girl to be attentive⑧attentive 英 ［ə'tentɪv］ 美 ［ə'tɛntɪv］ adj.留意的，注意的for her work， but it really surprises me that she does the same thing like this over and over again every day. Every day I go get my lunch there， the burritos always look the same. Tightly wrapped， two bags of ketchup on the left and two bags of mustard on the right. Sometimes there is a line， every customer is served the same.

A burrito sells for only 8 dollars. Sometimes I wonder， how can she bear repeating this fixed procedure all day？ Doesn't she feel like a robot？ But every time， she just gives me a big smile like the Californian sun and says “have a nice day.”

When I'm tired of my work， I always think of the burrito girl. Even if it looks like a trivial work that does not even make any sense， doing it perfect can still be impressive.

每天我走在街上，都会看到这个卖墨西哥卷饼的女孩。我叫她“卖墨西哥卷饼的女孩”，因为她经营一家卖墨西哥卷饼的小吃摊。城里有许多这样的小吃摊，她这家算小的。

她的卷饼没什么特别的。但令我刮目相看的是她对卷饼每道工序的持之以恒。她总是在卷饼快好时把包装纸打开，将每个角弄平整。她把卷饼放在纸的正中间，小心地包紧实，折好角以免松开。接着她把三张纸巾和卷饼一起放在盒子里，两包番茄酱放在左边，两包芥末酱放在右边。将盒子封好后，她把它递给我，附上“祝您今日愉快”的笑容。

一个卖卷饼的女孩专注工作没什么好惊讶的，真正让我惊讶的是她能日复一日地重复相同的动作。每天我到那儿去买午餐，墨西哥卷饼都做得一模一样。包装紧实，两包番茄酱放在左边，两包芥末酱放在右边。有时会排队，每个顾客拿到的卷饼都一模一样。

一个墨西哥卷饼只卖8美元。有时我在想，她怎么能忍受整天重复这样机械的程序？她不觉得自己像一个机器人吗？但每次她都会给我一个大大的微笑，就像加州的阳光一样，对我说“祝您今日愉快”。
