The Iranian species diversity of subfamily Homolobinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is summarized in this catalogue. Totally 4 species from single genusHomolobusFörster, 1862 are listed as the fauna of Iran. A faunistic list is given comprising both local and global distribution of each species under study as well as host records. Additionally, five species of Braconidae are newly recorded from Iran:Blacus(Blacus)longipennis(Gravenhorst, 1809)(Blacinae),Neoneurusauctus(Thomson, 1895)(Euphorinae),MacrocentruskurnakoviTobias, 1976 (Macrocentrinae),Apantelesimpurus(Nees, 1834)(Microgastrinae) andOrgilus(Orgilus)similisSzépligeti, 1896 (Orgilinae).

1 Introduction

Homolobinae van Achterberg, 1979 is a small cosmopolitan subfamily of the family Braconidae (van Achterberg, 1979, 1993; Yu et al., 2012). It comprises about 62 described species in three genera,Exasticolusvan Achterberg, 1979,HomolobusFörster, 1862 andWestwoodiellaSzépligeti, 1904, of which about 25 species are present in the Palaearctic region (Yu et al., 2012), all of them are belonging to the genusHomolobus.

Homolobines are relatively large sized, 5.0-9.0 mm, light coloured (often yellowish brown) insects (Tobias, 1986; Shaw et al., 1991). They are diagnosed by the following combination of characters: metasomal T1 (sub) sessile, distinctly narrowed behind spiracles that are located in front of middle of the tergite; T1 lacks longitudinal ridges, with deep large and sub-basal laterope; occipital carina well developed, connected with hypostomal carina above mandibular base; hind tibial spurs long, about 0.5× or slightly longer than hind basitarsus; prepectal ridge complete; antenna long and thin, last flagellomere ending with a spine; forewing longer than body, with 2 radio-medial veins, while anal cross veins absent; ovipositor straight or nearly so, short, not more than 0.5× as long as metasomal length, with a small subapical notch (van Achterberg, 1979, 1993; Tobias, 1986; Shaw et al., 1991). Members of Homolobinae are solitary koinobiont endoparasitoids of exposed lepidopterous caterpillars mainly of the families Noctuidae and Geometridae, many of which are agricultural pests (van Achterberg, 1979, 1993; Tobias, 1986; Shaw, 2002; Sharanowski et al., 2014).

The subfamily has been completely revised by van Achterberg (1979) who has also added 2 other newHomolobusspecies from New Guinea and Indonesia in 1992 and a another new one from Sulawesi (East Indonesia) in 1995. In Iran, it is reperesented by only fourHomolobusspecies,H.(Phylacter)annulicornis(Nees),H.(Chartolobus)infumator(Lyle),H.(Apathia)ophioninus(Vachal) andH.(Apathia)truncator(Say) (van Achterberg, 1979; Ghahari et al., 2009a, 2009b; Fallahzadeh et al., 2010; Farahani et al., 2012; Danesh, 2015; Samin et al., 2016).

2 Material and Methods

The published data on the subfamily Homolobinae from Iran are summarized. Classification, general distribution and host data of the different taxa follows Yu et al. (2012), and in other situations the related references are given. The following data are included: the valid taxa names, published records within provincial distribution, general distribution and host records. Names of the different taxa are listed alphabetically. About the new country records, the specimens were collected by Malaise trap and sweeping net.

3 Results

In total four species from one genus of Homolobinae have been recorded from Iran so far. The list of species is given below with distribution data and host records. Additionally, 5 species of subfamilies Blacinae, Euphorinae, Macrocentrinae, Microgastrinae and Orgilinae are represented as new records for the fauna of Iran.
