Patient: Why should I carry these foods? Didn’t my doctor suggest me to cut these kind of foods from my diet?

Nurse: If you have symptoms like palpitation, hand trembling, cold sweat and dizziness, you can eat some biscuits or candy first and then see a doctor.

Patient: I understand. Thank you, Ms. Zhang.

老年人服药时，要严格按医嘱服药。服药要准时，切不可自行买药和服药，否则会引起严重后果。

Comments

It is necessary for older people to strictly follow the doctor’s order and take the medications on time. Otherwise it may result in severe adverse consequences.

老年性痴呆的护理

Nursing Care for a Patient with Senile Dementia

背景

刘先生，78岁，因进行性遗忘1年伴定向力降低而来就诊。经医生检查，并行脑部CT，初步诊断为老年性痴呆早期。这时门诊护士小张对病人实施健康宣教。

Background

Mr. Liu, 78 years old, went to see a doctor because of progressive memory impairment and disorientation. The doctor’s diagnoses combined with CT scan indicated: early stage Alzheimer’s disease. Clinic nurse, Miss Zhang, provided health education to the patient.

交流

病人：张护士，我的记忆力越来越坏，近来老是遗忘，有时连我外甥的名字都叫不出来。医生说我得了早期老年性痴呆。听说这个毛病最后会变傻的。实在可怕！

护士：刘大伯，我理解您的想法，但是您先别紧张。您能告诉我您平时一天的生活吗？

病人：我早晨一般6 Am起床，洗漱后吃早饭，听30 min苏州评弹，看大约1 h电视，和老伴聊聊，就吃中饭。下午打30 min瞌睡(我不敢多睡，怕影响晚上睡觉)，就下楼走一圈，再找个椅子坐会儿，与其他人聊聊天，就回来吃晚饭。晚上与老伴说说话，大约8 Pm左右就睡觉了。

护士：您平时蔬菜和水果吃得多吗？

Patient: Miss Zhang, my memory is getting worse. I keep forgetting things. I almost forgot my nephew’s name the other day. My doctor told me that I have early stage of Alzheimer’s disease. I have heard that people who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease will become a fool. It is terrible.

Nurse: Mr. Liu, I understand what you are thinking. Don’t be nervous. Could you tell me what your daily life is like?

Patient: I usually get up at 6 a.m. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I will have breakfast. Then I enjoy Suzhou Pin Tan for half an hour and watch TV for about one hour. I talk with my wife for some time, and then it will be time for lunch. I usually take a nap for about half an hour (I don’t want a long nap because I am afraid it will affect the quality of night sleep). Then I usually go downstairs for a walk, find a chair to sit down and chat with my neighbors. After that I’ll have my supper. I usually go to bed at about 8 p.m.

Nurse: Do you usually eat enough vegetables and fruits?
