During Thrissur Pooram, Keralas biggest temple festival, watch a procession by 50 bedecked elephants, an evening involving an array of traditional classical instruments and a parasol display. A spectacular fireworks display is also there.

Spread over six days, Moatsu marks the end of the sowing season. Celebrated by the Ao tribe of Mokokchung in north Nagaland, especially in Chuchuyimlang, the celebrations include feasting, dancing, singing and exchanging gifts.

The annual Water Splashing Festival is important for the Dai ethnic minority. For three days, they participate in light-hearted religious rituals that invariably end in merrymaking, where everyone ends up getting splashed, sprayed or doused, with water.

This time the Ooty Summer Festival will include the 116th floral carnival, traditionally held at the Botanical Gardens. Other activities include the vegetable show at Kotagiri, Spice Show at Gudalur and the Fruit Show at Coonoors Sims Park.
